What is the difference between Personal Training, Fitness Consulting and Program Design?
Personal Training - workouts are completed with trainer present to provide immediate encouragement and feedback, including corrections where needed; every session is a workout; progression is established as client shows readyness during a session/workout; sessions are usually 1 hour in length, 3 times every week; duration and frequency of sessions is flexible to personal requirements.
Fitness Consulting - workouts are completed without trainer present (on your own); every session includes discussion and demonstration of exercises completed by client for trainer to provide encouragement and feedback, including corrections where needed; progression is established as client shows readyness during a session; sessions are usually 90 minutes in length, 1 time every week; duration and frequency of sessions is flexible to personal requirements.
Program Design - all activities are completed outside of program sessions; every session includes discussion of personal preferences and goals for fitness and nutrition; information gathered from sessions is used to create a physical activity program and a nutrition program; the physical activity program may include (but not limited to) fitness classes, swimming lessons, leisure walks/playing in the park, etc; the nutrition program may include (but not limited to) meal plans, grocery lists, meal preparation strategies, etc; progression is built into the program based on personal capability and/or change in season/activity; duration and frequency of sessions is determined by complexity of the program requirements. Participation in various activities may involve additional expenses.
